“Resistance is the secret of joy!”― Alice Walker

Historically Black people have in many ways proudly resisted the “dominant” narrative and culture and since we are not a monolith this resistance looks different but oftentimes feels the same, the result is always Black Joy.

“Black Joy” is joy conjured up in the face of oppression; it is joy had anyhow, in spite of, it is a deliberate act of resistance that helps us heal and is absolutely vital for our survival. All folx of the African diaspora are invited to join us in this space to celebrate intentional expressions of Black Joy!
